Nia (Neuromuscular Integrative Action) is fusion fitness, combining movements from Modern Dance, Jazz, Tai Chi, Yoga, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido, and other movement forms. It is appropriate for all levels, and so kind to the joints, it is done barefoot. The class starts by warming up the joints (Warm Up) and progresses into routines of varying tempo and intensity. The Core of the workout achieves total body cardiovascular conditioning by integrating steps, stances, and kicks, creative arm and hand expressions, balancing and shifting weight, and moving across the floor. The Cool Down incorporates FreeDance and FloorPlay, emphasizing flexibility, stretching, and breathing.

Nia offers the joy of movement through expressive, grounded movement rather than repetitive jogging or lifting. Effective and fun, it is the Body's Way of being and living in your body.
