    • With: Lois Harrison
    • Dates: Wednesday, December 31, 2014
    • Times: 09:00PM to 12:00AM
In the beginning there was sound …

The gongs are the primordial sound of creation. They have the ability to dematerialize space, time and matter. This releases old patterns of beliefs and negativity. As we begin the new year of 2015, the gongs help us to let go of the old and move forward entrained to the vibration of the golden mean so we may enter the New Year living from our hearts.

Come join us this New Years Eve at PCYH to journey into your heart through immersion in sacred sound. We begin with guided meditation to let go of the old, then lay down for a journey into the vibrations of the gongs, Native American flutes, Himalayan singing bowls, percussion and other world instruments. We end with a guided meditation to enter 2015 filled with unconditional love and living from our heart space.

Afterwards there will be a sharing of conversation, food and joy!

Please bring a pot luck vegetarian appetizer or dessert to share.

    Price: $45

    • With: Rebecca Stanko
    • Dates: Thursday, January 01, 2015
    • Times: 10:00AM to 11:30AM
This powerful detoxifying practice is specially designed to cleanse the body and clear the mind. The practice will stimulate and purify the internal organs, improve respiration and circulation, and renew the mind, body and spirit. We will begin with pranayama and core work to build heat in the body and prepare the organs for the asana practice. The asana sequence will begin with poses designed to bring length to the spine and space to the body. The second portion of the asana practice consists of postures designed to compress the organs and eliminate the toxins from our cells. Finally, we will move into twisting poses to wring out the organs. The practice will conclude with a sweet and restful savasana. The room will be heated to 80-85 degrees to enhance the detoxification process. All levels are welcome.

This class is for graduates of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy who would like to go deeper in their practice, who would like support in working with, and through, the various obstacles and challenges that arise, and who would like to further integrate this practice into their daily lives. Each 90-minute class will include a period of meditation, group discussion, and opportunities to ask questions, as we explore ways to more consistently embody mindfulness with increased clarity, compassion, and tenderness, while bringing more presence and aliveness to our moment-by-moment experience. For many of us, the practices of yoga have changed our lives. That statement may seem dramatic, but it’s true. These practices teach us to turn inward, to pay attention, and to notice without judgment. They enable us to find balance in our bodies and minds, as well as develop our overall well-being. Because of those benefits, yoga is an invaluable asset for Veterans who are coping with trauma-related psychological difficulties.

Yoga practices are a powerful complement to professional treatment for Post Traumatic Stress. A mindful, embodied yoga practice can provide relief from symptoms and develop the supportive skills that Veterans need in their everyday lives. Yoga does not cure Post Traumatic Stress, but it has proven to aid in a Veteran’s healing journey.

Embodyoga, created by Patty Townsend, is the basis for Mindful Yoga Therapy for VeteransMindful Yoga Therapy is an embodyoga-based, empirically informed, clinically tested program comprised of five practices: Pranayama (breathing), Asana (postures connected with breath), Yoga Nidra, Meditation, and Gratitude. Each practice is a tool Veterans can use to cope with Post Traumatic Stress, and together, they form a comprehensive system–a toolbox–that will carry Veterans into a life of strength and resilience.
