    Founded in 1985 by Catherine Judd, Princeton’s Dance Improv, Live! is a lightly structured evening of self-expression through movement and live music. It is a bare-feet, comfy-clothes, free-movement workshop with live music, which has become not only a Princeton institution but a cutting-edge dance/movement event known nationwide. In so many ways, Dance Improv has shaped and inspired the lives of the thousands of people who have come through its doors during the last three decades.

    Dance Improv is a place to move and be moved, a place to play, build community, and form new and lasting friendships. With the help of a light structure and live music, you’ll make contact with yourself and others through fresh and creative motion. It’s meditation, exercise, and healing all rolled into one joyous evening!     For many of us, the practices of yoga have changed our lives. That statement may seem dramatic, but it’s true. These practices teach us to turn inward, to pay attention, and to notice without judgment. They enable us to find balance in our bodies and minds, as well as develop our overall well-being. Because of those benefits, yoga is an invaluable asset for Veterans who are coping with trauma-related psychological difficulties.

    Yoga practices are a powerful complement to professional treatment for Post Traumatic Stress. A mindful, embodied yoga practice can provide relief from symptoms and develop the supportive skills that Veterans need in their everyday lives. Yoga does not cure Post Traumatic Stress, but it has proven to aid in a Veteran’s healing journey.

    Embodyoga, created by Patty Townsend, is the basis for Mindful Yoga Therapy for VeteransMindful Yoga Therapy is an embodyoga-based, empirically informed, clinically tested program comprised of five practices: Pranayama (breathing), Asana (postures connected with breath), Yoga Nidra, Meditation, and Gratitude. Each practice is a tool Veterans can use to cope with Post Traumatic Stress, and together, they form a comprehensive system–a toolbox–that will carry Veterans into a life of strength and resilience.

    Join Us for a monthly Evening of Mindfulness – A Graduate Class on Mindfulness Meditation – beginning January 20.

    In response to popular request, Jeff and Deborah are hosting a meditation group. All who have participated in our MBSR program (or any MBSR/MBCT program) are invited to attend.

    This class is for graduates of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy who would like to go deeper in their practice, who would like support in working with, and through, the various obstacles and challenges that arise, and who would like to further integrate this practice into their daily lives. Each 90-minute class will include a period of meditation, group discussion, and opportunities to ask questions, as we explore ways to more consistently embody mindfulness with increased clarity, compassion, and tenderness, while bringing more presence and aliveness to our moment-by-moment experience. In so doing we increase our resilience and deepen our wisdom, and bring this into our daily life.

    This is also an opportunity to renew our commitment to approaching life through the lens of Mindfulness, and a chance to re-ground ourselves in the lessons learned from our practice and from the course.

    Practicing and being together we have the precious opportunity to continue to transform our lives, to go beyond reducing stress and anxiety to cultivating joy, inner balance, and wholeness.

  8. A Night of Music and Channeling

  12. Children’s Yoga Teacher Training – Level 2

    This Teacher Training Program is a comprehensive certification in yoga and mindfulness practices for children and youth ages 3 to 18. Certified by Yoga Alliance, training focuses on the complete physical, mental, emotional and social wellbeing of students. Participants will leave training with the tools to help children connect to themselves & their community, access the calming power of their breath, develop focus & concentration, feel strong and confident through physical movement, and learn how to nurture themselves through relaxation.

    In addition to offering a wide range of activities that you can immediately implement with your students, the Little Flower Yoga training teaches you how to create activities within a framework of safety, relevance and student engagement. You do not have to be a yoga teacher to particpate – classroom teachers, counselors, physical and occupational therapists, parents, and all those who are interested in helping the children in their lives become the best versions of themselves are welcome.

  14. 108 Sun Salutations in Celebration of the Spring Equinox

    Friday, March 20th marks the spring equinox – the day when daylight and darkness are of approximately equal duration. This rewarding practice celebrates this shift from winter to spring. This practice is a traditional moving meditation in which we honor and reflect on the winter, and set intentions for the spring.

    We will practice four sets of twenty-seven sun salutations. We will offer breaks in between each set. We will conclude the practice with gentle stretching and a sweet savasana. We encourage you to do what you can, rest when you would like, and listen to your body.

    All levels are welcome. Modifications will be offered and rest is always encouraged.
