Cynthia
Greenfield
Cynthia Greenfield is certified to teach Dancekinetics--also known as Move Your Body. This is a fun, rejuvenating movement experience where you follow simple dance moves to soul-filled music from around the world.
She became very excited about teaching Move Your Body classes when she experienced the benefits herself. She realized that the only requirement for a successful experience in these classes was to accept herself just as she was and drop expectations of looking any particular way while dancing. Cynthia hopes to share that experience. She believes that when we honor ourselves in that way and use the vehicle of expressing through movement at the same time, we can find joy, freedom, and fun. In addition, we can experience renewal and healing.
She has also trained with Daniel Leven in the area of Expressive Movement Therapy, which is a therapeutic approach using movement and other modalities to express feelings. Cynthia has extensive experience in the areas of yoga, meditation, and breathing techniques for healing.

Deirdre Hopton
Ms. Hopton entered the practice of mat Pilates in 2004, and found it to be just what she had been searching for. A self-professed "fat kid" and "couch potato" throughout childhood, Deirdre had finally begun to pursue physical fitness in her 20's, with a regime of walking, jogging and bicycling. Although she enjoyed these forays into exercise, she found that it seemed more difficult than it should. Pilates changed all that. Taking a Pilates class at her local YMCA taught her that she had been holding her body in exactly the wrong way. In learning to strengthen her powerhouse and lengthen her spine, Deirdre discovered renewed joy in walking, bicycling, and even the mundane activities of daily life. Once she discovered Pilates, Deirdre was hooked, and became certified to teach mat Pilates in 2006. Known for giving individual attention to each student, and recommending the appropriate modifications for each level, Ms. Hopton brings an enthusiasm to the mat that is sure to inspire you to practice Pilates regularly. |

Pose Rama Ramanathan, Yoga Alliance (R.Y.T. 500) is a certified
yoga instructor with 19 years of teaching experience. Rama studied
at the Sivananda Yoga Centers, under Martin Bland, the centenarian
yogi Swami Bua, and also Srivatsa Ramaswami, who taught him the
Vinyasakrama yoga of the late Sri Krishnamacharya of India, who
has taught yoga teachers like B.K.S. Iyengar and Pattabhi Jois.
(Srivatsa Ramaswami is the author of the book, Yoga fvor the Three
Stages of Life published by Inner Traditions, USA.)
Rama was introduced to yoga at age 18 by his uncle. He has taught
at a number of hospitals, corporations, fitness centers, yoga studios,

"Power" yoga, gentle yoga, "Sivananda" yoga,

and mental capabilities. "Vinyasa" means a joining or
linking mechanism; a fluid movement. "Krama" means "the
method." Vinyasa krama allows one to do a main, classical asana
(posture) by doing all the preliminary movements preparatory to
that pose. It is a logical, well-planned sequence of movements in
one or more yogic postures or sequences, synchronized with appropriate
breathing.
Rama is a volunteer at the Chinmaya Mission, a world-wide organization,
which teaches Vedanta to adults and value-based education to children.
He attends Vedic chanting classes and also organizes Indian classical
music and dance concerts in the tristate area. |

Rajam's approach to yoga is classical incorporating the traditional form of
yoga. At the same time, having received training from different masters, she has
developed a unique approach to yoga successfully integrating strong emphasis on
alignment, strength and flexibility associated with "Iyengar" yoga, the methodical
sequencing of "Sivananda" yoga, the vigourous, integrative movements of "Bua"
yoga, and with the vinyasa flow style (Vinyasa Krama). Her classes are appropriate
for both beginning and intermediate level students. Incorporating compassion,
relevance, and power in her teaching, Rajam's classes are tailored to suit the
needs of students with different abilities and special needs.
