To Anusara Style Yoga

Open to the grace of the exquisite Universal Principles of Alignment introduced by John Friend in. Learn about the famous "loops and spirals”, and the "muscular and organic energy" that are hallmarks of this practice. Your Anusara tour guide is Christine McArdle-Oquendo. Christine is the director of OM Shree OM, A Teacher Training Program for Children's Yoga, offered at PCYH and around the country.

Anusara means "open to grace". In this program, we will open to the grace of the exquisite Universal Principles of Alignment introduced by John Friend in founding Anusara Yoga in 1998. Learn about the famous "loops and spirals", and the "muscular and organic energy" that are hallmarks of this practice.

Set a deep heartfelt intention that will add a new dimension to your own practice and lead you to experience an inner transformation, an experience of your highest, a deep and meaningful expression of the beauty within you which is the real teaching of Anusara. Your Anusara tour guide is Christine McArdle-Oquendo. She is the director of OM Shree OM, A Teacher Training Program for Children's Yoga, offered at PCYH and around the country. She has been studying Anusara for 2 1/2 years and has just completed her level 1 teacher training with John Friend this Spring.

This program is offered four times in 2005. Each program consists of 5 classes over a 5-week period.

Ayurveda, the science of life, is a holistic and natural healing system developed in India over 5,000 years ago. This course program offers an understanding of the basic principles and concepts of Ayurveda. We will discuss the philosophy of Ayurveda, the five basic elements, three vital energies, and the body in health and disease. Student commitment is important as each session builds upon the previous ones - homework and group discussions (via online bulletin board) will be part of the course. Come have some FUN! Join us as we open to the pulse of our hearts. Building unity together as we share our rhythm, breath & hearts, beating as one, in community. Drum, slap, tap, dance, shake it up for $ 10. No musical experience required. Bring your favorite drums or percussion instruments if you have them....we do have some to share! FEEL THE BEAT!

Mark will offer a drumming workshop each month from 6:30 – 7:30 for beginners or those who want to hone up those drumming skills. Please call to pre-register and confirm attendance. 973-714-6981. $15. $20 for both workshop and drumming circle.

This workshop has universal principles of meditation: Take time out, relax body-release stress, return to true self, relax the mind, cease thoughts, enter dimension of God's Presence. Its teachings and practices are good for everyone.

Reb David's work is about bringing the soul from an intellectual concept to a personal and intimate experience. Combining the religious, the spiritual, the psychological and the meditative, it is rooted in traditional Judaism, but speaks to and respects all streams of Judaism, and all world traditions. But in particular it speaks to that part of all traditions that is for those walking the path of the heart.

He tells stories from traditional Jewish sources, including tales of Rabbi Nachman as well as his own encounters with spiritual and psychological teachers, from Carl Jung, Shlomo Carlebach, Allan Watts, Carlos Castaneda and Gurus in India to Rebbes in Israel.

Holiday Class: Twists

Explore an asana practice focusing on restoring health to our body, concentrating on core abdominals in order to stimulate circulation and lymphatic flow to enhance digestion, regulate the kidneys and massage our internal organs. The class will include standing and seated asanas, twists and forward bends and will end with a guided belly massage. A multi-level class suitable for all levels. Not recommended for students with serious injury, illness, epilepsy, high blood pressure or heart condition.


Fee: $20 pre-registered /$25 drop in
