Ariana Vugrek is a dedicated student and teacher of the Astanga method. She studies with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and his grandson, Sharath, and daughter, Saraswati, in Mysore, India and in New York City. Ariana began her exploration of Astanga yoga with Beryl Bender Birch, and has continued her studies with many well-regarded senior Astanga teachers including Nancy Gilgoff, David

Roche and David Williams. She also participates in Manju Jois' Astanga intensives when he is teaching in New York.

Ariana studied the Bhagavad-Gita and Yoga Sutras in India, in traditional “call and response” method, and continues these studies in New York. She also learned Sanskrit language and chanting in India. As an adjunct faculty member at Drew University, Ariana recently taught a graduate-level course entitled "The Science of Yoga". She maintains a daily Mysore practice under the guidance of her teacher, Christopher Hildebrandt. Ariana is also certified in Reiki I, and holds a law degree from Seton Hall University.

In addition to teaching at The Green Room School of Yoga, Ariana continues to work in the law profession part time. This has given her the unique ability to understand and assist students in applying their knowledge and experience in yoga practice to life’s challenges, while maintaining inner clarity and peace. In this way, the student gains a deeper understanding of their own practice and life. Ariana brings compassion to her teaching, and encourages a sense of adventure and humor both on and off the mat.

This class is suitable and recommended for new students, students who have no prior astanga experience, or who are working on the beginning postures of the Astanga Primary Series.

Sat. Oct. 29 Kirtan
With Satyaa and Pari
8:00 pm

“Because we are singing we're getting happiness, and because we are happy, we just have to sing! It is both the cause and effect of our divine happiness! It is great to sing and feel your own heart dancing in your chest and feeling how this dance expands and touches others.” Satyaa´s and Pari´s music, is mostly self-composed mantras and devotional songs, and also includes some beautiful traditional bhajans. Satyaa´s rich voice and devotion emanate a contagious fire which carries listeners directly back to their own hearts. Their music in live performances has this Divine spark that ignites the fire within; the fire for truth, for God, for love. Satyaa and Pari share their music and their love at the Alexis Zorbas center in Corfu, Greece where they live in summer, and during the winter months at various yoga centers in Europe and now, for the first time, in the US.
